About HARD SUN

After the death of her parents, a young woman assumes primary guardianship of her special needs brother. But as she attempts to balance her new life with her brother and her own blossoming romance, it becomes painfully clear that life will only make room for one.

  • Robyn Buck - "Ruth"
    Blossoming American-Australian actor, Robyn Buck, makes her debut in her first starring role in a feature film as the delicate by nature, tough by circumstance, Ruth Prost in Canyon Prince’s Hard Sun. Following production on Hard Sun, Buck quickly went on to shoot large supporting roles in upcoming releases—James Thomas horror movie Run Like Hell as sincere beauty, Maggie; and Albert Kodagolian’s feature Somewhere Beautiful, as estranged and vulnerable young-wife, Rachel. Buck appeared as a recurring lead in the Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg CBS.com series How to Survive a Horror Movie: All the Skills to Dodge the Kills; enchanted audiences as mystical steam punk Lucy in Tim Pape’s experimental film Prey for the Island; and acted opposite Scoot McNairy in the short film Amor Fati. Buck recently took to the LA stage as Arianna in Fugitive Kind's Ovation Recommended production of The Pliant Girls.
  • John Bain - "Riley"
    After studying Acting and Theatre in Chicago, IL for most of his life, John Bain set out to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Film and TV. In the past few years, John has worked hard to establish himself as a young, talented, up and coming actor in the Hollywood circuit. His past Film and TV credits include The Least of These, Desert Son, The 420 Movie: Mary & Jane, Love, Lust, and a Roomkey, CSI, House, M.D., Criminal Minds, and CSI:NY. John was thrilled at the chance to work on Hard Sun. Exploring the world of Riley and working with such a great cast and crew was an amazing experience.
  • Ben Begley - "Josh"
    Ben Begley is an actor/writer/comedian/nerd who has appeared in over 20 commercials. His TV appearances include: The Crazy Ones, Matador, NCIS: Los Angeles, Franklin & Bash, Happy Endings, and Raising Hope. And roles in several features; ranging from a doctor who really loves bagels, a romantic lead, an uber conservative Church director, and Ed Helms' doppleganger in the new spoof film, The Hungover Games. He also hosted a weekly show, ABC Dot Comedy, on ABC.com, where he interviewed and filmed sketches with people way more famous than him.
  • Myron Natwick - "Grandpa"
    Myron Natwick has brought countless dramatic stories to life in his long and prolific career as a notable stage, screen and television actor, writer and producer. A talented and highly intuitive dramatic stage actor, who excelled equally in musical theatre, he toured Australia, Europe, Canada and the US, including several notable stints in New York. After being under contract to Universal Studios for several years, the versatile Natwick made a name for himself in countless films, television series, daytime soaps and commercials, creating indelible roles in THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR, SCARECROW AND MRS. KING and DAYS OF OUR LIVES. He also created numerous screenplays, and produced/executive produced several MOWs, television series and feature film dramas. His recent film acting credits include: CAVEDWELLER, SHALLOW GROUND, LIKE CATS AND DOGS and ON DEADLY GROUND.
  • Tami Carey - "Lucy"
    Tami is a Canadian-American actor who began her career and training in Chicago.  After several years with a theater focus, including lead roles in David Mamet's Sexual Perversity In Chicago and Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things, she began transitioning into film and made the move to Los Angeles to continue developing her career. Shortly after moving to LA, Tami met Two Guys & A Film's, Canyon Prince, while filming a guest spot for his web series “The Romantic Foibles of Esteban“ (2009 Feel Good Film Festival Official Selection).  They teamed up again on “First Edition“ (2010 Feel Good Film Festival & 2010 Anaheim International Film Festival Official Selections) with the role of sassy, spunky Bridgette Furrows being written just for her. She is thrilled to be a part of both of Two Guys & A Film's feature films- Lucy in Hard Sun (directed by Canyon Prince) and Samantha in Run Like Hell (directed by James Thomas) - and she can't wait for the next one.
  • William Stamey - "Randy"
    William has acted and directed professionally in theater and film in both Los Angeles and New York. He has trained at Playhouse West and Steppenwolf West (both in Los Angeles), and is an alumni of the Stella Adler Studio in New York. William is a co-founder of Warped Mirror Productions, and has served on the faculty of the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles. He currently resides in the Southeast U.S. Film credits include the award winning “June Gloom” and the upcoming “Aggregate.” Theater credits include the critically acclaimed productions of Marisol and Waiting for Lefty, both with the HCLab Theater Co.
  • Edward Rowley - "Jimmy"
    Edward Rowley is so grateful to have worked on Hard Sun. Ever since graduating from California Institute of the Arts, Edward has been pursuing a career in acting, appearing in The Radar LA Theater Festival, local theater, various independent films, and webisodes.
  • Philip Nathanael - "Patrick"
    Philip Nathanael Johnson was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala in a small apartment complex. After several moves to and from the States, he moved to Ecuador at the age of 11 with his mother, older brother, and younger sister. At age 14, he moved to South Carolina with his Grandparents to finish High School. He received his GED at 17 from a Community College in Florida while living with his father. After working in fast food for a year, he was making plans to join the Air Force, but decided to pursue an acting career instead and joined the "Covenant Players", a traveling theater company based out of Oxnard, California. After touring around the country for two years, he moved back to Florida where he lived almost a year before helping his mother and siblings move to Peru. He stayed in Lima for almost three years and then moved permanently to Los Angeles to continue his acting career.

  • Canyon Prince - Writer/Director/Editor
    Canyon is Executive Producer and Co-Owner of production shingle Two Guys and a Film, established in 2012. His original episodic shows include “First Edition“ (2010 Feel Good Film Festival / 2010 Anaheim International Film Festival Official Selections), and “The Romantic Foibles of Esteban“ (2009 Feel Good Film Festival Official Selection). In 2011 Canyon co-created the hit interactive horror project “Killcam: Live” which garnered 3 Million live views during it’s seven week live 72hr-episodic rollout. He has directed several episodes of the Hulu/HDNET half-hour comedy series “Goodnight Burbank“, as well as various pilot’s including “The Inn”, “Faculty Lounge”, “Hero’s Quest”, and the show opener for “The Men’s Room”. His spec commercial and music video work includes “The Walking Dead Board Game” and “Tenth Avenue North”. Canyon has acted as New Media Programmer for the Anaheim International Film Festival and Santa Catalina Film Festival, as well as creating the first ever New Media Expo / Market.

  • James Thomas - Producer
    James Thomas made his feature film directorial debut with the Action/Horror film “Run Like Hell”. Prior to directing “Run Like Hell”, James served as producer on the indie drama “Hard Sun”. In 2012, he and fellow filmmaker Canyon Prince (director of “Hard Sun”), started the production company Two Guys and a Film, which produced both films. Additionally, James has directed the pilot for “The 1570” (a sitcom), and served as the series director for seasons 1 / 2 of the music talk show “Next In Line”. James has also directed numerous music videos including “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, reaching over 20K views, Convulsa’s “Signs”. His commercial experience includes Driving Ethanol, Oasis Church, and a spec for BMW/MINI USA. In 2011, James had the privilege of directing All-Stars “The Jabawockeez”, “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (LXD)”, and “Team illuminate” at the unprecedented “Night of Dance”.
